Carrara Bong Table by Cappellini

08.09.bong.jpg

Heavy. The newest Bong Table by Cappellini looks like a solid sphere of carrara marble. This carrara design is new for 2007.

The table's actual material is fiberglass, and it was previously available in solid colors only. This carrara print really adds weight, though. The 19" diameter tables look like they'd be particularly child-friendly and they sell for about $800.

Fake marble? Why? Might as well print woodgrain on it, or country ducks.

I am not paying eight hundred dollars for a faux marble table.

Then get ready to shell out a lot more than that for a solid marble sphere like this.

I like it. A LOT.

me too. like it a lot. however, i agree with the fact paying $800-$1000 for this. rather pay $2500 for a real one or $129 for a fake repo. I can spend $800 better right now.

It's really got a surreal feeling... I wish I could see it in a space. It seems kind of cold and imposing. Maybe if I were building a Salvador Dalí/René Magritte home... or if I needed a sacrificial altar.

I doubt that, at 18" high, it's all that imposing.

I'm neutral on the price and the object. The price is consistent with the sort of thing it is and while I don't really warm to this object, I can imagine it being a necessary part of an interior that would wow me.

If it's not real marble, they shouldn't have bothered with the marble veins. I like the shape, but I hate the marble-ness.

So, wait, if it *were* real marble, they should have printed marble veins on it, then?
