This entire table fits in a bag, and it actually looks pretty nice. Available at Picnic Fun for $90, the top's slats roll up and are stored, with the base, in a canvas tote. A table like this makes public parks a little more like your own private garden.

I have actually seen these for under $20 at discount stores.

Crate and Barrel also has a Table in a Bag for about $40.

Any camping supply store will have these for less money.

I spent a summer doing fieldwork in central Nevada and we took one of those little aluminum tables everywhere. It is sturdy enough to support a camping stove and food prep at the same time and packs down very small and light. But basically anywhere else you look it will be less $$.

Picnic Fun website is a ripoff.
Do a Google product search for "Slumberjack Stowaway Camp Table" and you'll see this exact product for $50 to $60. They are selling the small size for what the larger size costs.
Apartment Therapy is definitely not cost-conscious, although the readers repeatedly complain about the high cost of many of the items posted.
