Good Questions: Similar Antique Baker's Display Case?

3.27shelf.jpgHello AT,

Does anyone know where I can find something similar to this Antique Baker's Display Case used in this year's HGTV Green Home.

I've been looking for something like this to put in the Dining Area of my studio.

The HGTV site said that they found it in Belgium.

Any suggestions?

Thanks! Guy

I've seen some consoles/map storage(?) in PB and Restoration hardware that if you put side by side would look a lot like that (sans weathering and paint job).

You could have a local carpenter/furniture maker build one for you out of recycled wood and off-the shelf mouldings...

i like that idea. How do I get that aged effect on the wood? I realize the best way is to let the console sit around for 100 years, but is there a way to get a faux-finish version? Do you think Gothic Cabinet Craft could make something like that?

It looks like a low wide bureau with the drawers taken out and shelves put in. Why not try a second hand store? You might find something REALLY aged.

Hi:

I happened to see one that looked very similar to the one in the photo this past weekend on Atlantic Ave. It was in boutique that had very pretty throw pillows from india and
items from Africa. The piece was $1000.00 and had
weathered wood and glass sliding doors. I'm trying to remember the exact store and location and I've e-mailed
the friend I was with to see if she can be of help.

GuyinBK, where did you find an email for Nadeau? I'm looking at their website and the print is so small I can barely read it. And I don't see an email address. Maybe we're looking at 2 different sites.

anne, I actually called the New Jersey store. Although the numbers were very small, I was able to read them. There phone number is 908-810-9881. When I called, they were closed, but they gave an email address which is newyork@nadeauimports.com, and seem to be prompt in their responses. Many thanks again to niqas for the tip. The unit is an affordable $330!!

Nadau is awesome. I love their warehouse in Culver City in LA and am sure Jersey will have great stuff too. They often have the same items found at other furniture stores for about half price. I've purchased a few pieces. It is better to see the pieces before you buy them to make sure there aren't hairline fractures, etc. The LA shop gets 2-3 containers every month. Here's the website with all of the locations:

Otherwise, there is a more expensive version on Wisteria...
