Good Questions: Similar CB2 Envelope Table?

3.26table.jpgHello AT,

Sadly, I missed out on the CB2 Envelope Table.

I gazed at it lovingly online for months, and never pulled the trigger.

They no longer carry it.

I was hoping someone could refer me to something similar...

(Note: Include a pic of your problem and your question gets posted first.)

The Envelope table had seating for 6, with a slide-out section on each side that, when extended, increased the table's seating capacity to 8 (with one section pulled out) or 10 (with both pulled out).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks! LJ

Ikea Bjursta is a similar look. Largest size has same seating capacity (6-10). They carry 3 colors (natural, brown, black-brown). Price is $349

I've got it in black-brown (basically black). I've got a long space and kind of wish I would have gotten/made something that's the full 10 person length with the legs at the corners as I don't love the look of the leaves hanging out as "wings."

It seems plenty solid in either the collapsed or expanded positions, but note that the mechanism is all wood and doesn't slide very easily, so it's best to have two people to convert it.

You're in luck. I have one, in NYC, and I'm getting rid of it. It's in the dark finish. It shows very minor signs of use: one of the leafs has a couple of truly teeny and entirely fixable nicks along one edge of leaf - and the legs got a little wobbly thanks to some TLC by the moving guys. But nothing that can't be fixed completely. Interested? Or do you only want the lighter finish?

Don't give up on the original! I recently missed a crate and barrel product (plasma entertainment center that matched my bookcases). I called their order desk and asked if anyone could help track down the piece. I was transferred to a product manager for the product line, and she ended up finding half of the center in their NJ warehouse. She asked for my email and a few days later they sent me a note letting me know that they'd found a complete matching set, and would be happy to sell it to me. (at no additional cost)

Give that a try, you never know what they still might have in their warehouses, despite not having it online or in stores. I guess perhaps they keep some around for warranty replacement purposes? Good Luck!

Sorry to have missed all of this yesterday! Thank you all for the suggestions. AyJayKay, if you'd like to email me at LJS300 at hotmail with a price, that would be great. I actually was planning to get the darker one -- the lighter one was the only picture I could find online now though.

CB2 and Crate and Barrel seem to have a particularly short retail life for their products. Grab them while you can. I certainly have missed out on a few items I wish I could now find. I don't like to buy a piece until I have sorted out all the coordinating elements. By the time that puzzle is all worked out, the cb2 elements are often gone.

Note to CB2: A "last call" designation on soon to be discontinued items might allow you to move more units before resorting to clearance pricing.

I second soljb's post. I had a similar experience with chairs at crate and barrel. I had purchased a dining room table and figured I had time to build up a full collection of chairs, when they were discontinued. thanks to some very helpful customer service people I was able to find a full set.
