Harvest Drop Leaf Dining Table by Design Within Reach

This table was created by Design Within Reach. This is a departure for a company that's made classic designs from international designers available to everyone without a design service. The table is part of their new Shaker-inspired solid wood furniture collection and it's handcrafted and made from solid, oiled walnut...

Not sure if I'm getting this one. You want drop leaves etc because you're tight on space, but you have room for a 6' long table and have $3200 to blow? And the leaves only gain you 8" of depth on each side?

I don't see how the flexibility of the leaves really buys you that much. Sure, you can fold down one of the leaves and tuck it up against the wall, but if you use it in that orientation you're staring at... a wall. I'm sure in the right house with a window in the right place it could be perfect, but it seems pretty niche to me.

Better yet: have someone who actually builds shaker furniture custom design and make a table for far less money. They could probably use the business a lot more.

Alright, this is getting ricidulous- I think "Design Within Reach" is going to have to seriously change their name soon.

$3,200 for what amounts to a walnut, drop-leaf table. Whoopdie-do. I am sure you could get the same table made by a local carpenter for less.

But that means you cant point out your "DWR" table every time your friends come over.

Its nice enough - but I'd rather get a local craftsman make something unique for me if I'm going to spend that much.

I'm agreeing with bepsf. I've had this design in mind for a while for our entry/dining/living room, but we had a complicated desk built custom for us that was still half the price of this table. Beautiful, but might as well just get it made locally.
