Hidden Cabinet by Richard Shed

11-22-hiddencabinet.jpg

Modern meets traditional. Hidden Cabinet is the work of London-based designer Richard Shed and is manufactured by cabinet maker Terry Noakes. The combination of burled walnut and white lacquered MDF with brass and chrome, really challenge one's personal style. We've slinked Richard's work before. The Guardian had an interesting story about bringing designers together with traditional cabinet makers. —aaron

I'd be more open-minded about the provocativeness of the design if the laminate frame didn't stick out so that you can never reach the back of the drawers when you open them. Form followed function more in the original piece of traditional cabinetry than in the "designed" piece.

It's not a laminate frame. It's painted MDF. It's kind of neat.
