Dear AT,
I bought this tree stump side table at TJMax in Chelsea and I was wondering if anyone knew where it was originally sold?
There was no tag or stick on the item saying what store it was from.
We paid $100 for it and the TJMax sticker said compare at $200, but i feel it might have originally cost more.
Any thoughts? Thanks! Jessica

hmm it could have come from any of a number of named places, and numerous unnamed. the real point is you got a great deal it appears for a couple reasons...
1. a similar table made of just the lowest level you show here is $200 at west elm
2. it's an unusual TRI level table... pretty sweet
enjoy your steal of the year, it was probably well deserved, so margaritas all around!!!

Not sure why you want to know, unless you are searching for a companion.

indiasoup--
Don't automatically assume. Could have been a local invasive, could have been killed by lightning...

And a log is no more deforesting than a regular wood table, btw...

It could be hudson furniture:

If I remember correctly, its down on W. 14th in the West Village. They're big into the natural wood furniture & design - however, I don't know about an original price of $200 (it might be too inexpensive for them).
Worth checking out though, cool spot.

It's probably the Chinese Fir items, like here:

You've probably seen the vases and baskets and other interesting wood items. That site they reference doesn't work for me, the image overlays the description.
So here are other items:

Yeah, TJ Max (and associated store HomeGoods) is carrying lots of chinese fir right now. There's nothing to indicate that this was created for any other store specifically.
