NY Good Questions: Similar, More Affordable Bedside Table?

5.30table4.jpgDear AT,

I am looking to update my bedroom, and I wanted bedside tables that look like the glossy white ones with the X legs from Williams Sonoma Home.

However, at $795 a piece my part-time student budget won't cover this.

Can you recommend any alternative tables or stores?

Thanks! Gso2008

i just have to say i love these tables as well, but in the dark brown.

the price did not impress me (i mean seriously...) and they were a bit bigger then i needed. So instead i'm having my father build them, fraction of the price, and custom sized. it's nice having a carpenter for a dad an an iron/steel worker for a brother in law.

it would be easy to make one using a hack of a drawer or existing table with one drawer and then adding a base of one of those folding TV table. screw together and paint a uniform colour. for a glossy finish sand between coats and use fine brush or use a clear coat.

How about a variation from WestElm?
Perhaps you could find a glossy white tray for the stand they show here?

The design is so straightforward that it screams *hack* to me, if you're inclined. By the way, WHERE THE HECK does WSH come up with $795 for this piece? It's lovely, but it's just a small bedside table ... .

it's not that small when you look at the dimensions, but yeah the $800 is a big rip off.

I saw the same table. I actually found a local carpenter made one for me to specifications. Check it out at my blog www.smartspacestudio.blogspot.com. It came out exactly the same.

Similar, but different (and cheaper):

I could not find a night stand like you mentioned, but all of you out there looking for a glam and inexpensive mirrored night stand, check out the hayworth night stand at Pier 1 web site. $179.00 for this night stand is a bargain in my book.
