We have an issue with one of our bedside tables — it's a Componibili and it doesn't like to stay upright on our crooked rental floors. With our new habit of making the bed everyday, we've knocked it over at least once a week. While we're considering moving the beloved Componibili to a more level space, we've gathered five NEW side tables to consider for our space...

I don't really like any of these for bedside tables. They are all too small for me.
I keep a clock, lamp, a book and usually a glass a water on the bedside table.
Also, they are quite pricey.

Some find it too IKEA-esque, but I'm pretty fond of the Malm bedside table that mounts right to the headboard of our Malm bed.

It has a big enough surface space, a spacious drawer to stash anything unsightly (etc), and a great built-in vertical book shelf. Plus, it's a steal at $49.95, which is within the budget at this point in my life.

A good bedside table needs at least one drawer for necessities such as Kleenex, etc. and enough room on top for at least a lamp, a book, eyeglasses and a carafe of water (all at the same time)

I'm glad I wasn't the only one with raised eyebrows at the prices. Anyone have any experience with using the Malm bedside table w/o the malm bed? Can't they be mounted directly to the wall? Do they extend far enough out that way?

I second the 'glad I wasn't the only one'. I'm in the market for bedside tables, so I thought this post was fate... but I've seen all these tables in my browsing... and was immediately turned off by the prices.

the Malm ones are really comfortable, they provide enough storage, they are low (I hate accidentally hurting my head on the edge of a side table) and I like the natural finish.

I like the Barcelona Bedside Table and the 50'S Angled Drawer Cabinet (both mirrored) from Graham & Green but can't find anything like them in the US. Any suggestions? www.grahamandgreen.co.uk
