Bugatti Flatware

1-29-flat2.jpg

Visiting Los Angeles this week, we discovered colorful Bugatti flatware at the house where we're staying. Made of high grade acrylic handles and 18/10 stainless steel, they are light, tough and super nice for an everyday setting. The only problem is that we can't find them! Searching around the web only turns up some god awful designs by the same company and they seem to be scarce in the US. Anyone have a lead?

My aunt used to have a set in that color (amber?).
The flatware pattern is called Bugatti Utopia.

I just Googled "Bugatti utopia flatware" and it looks like some speciality retailers still sell it, but perhaps not in the orange/amber color.

At $65 per 5-piece set, though, it's pretty pricey.

Wendy's right. It's Utopia, but the site doesn't have this exact design, as far as I can tell. www.vietri.com

Eh... am I the only one who saw the first picture and immediatly thought of hot dogs? I must be the only one. Yeah, not a huge fan. I guess I can see the appeal, though.

I've never been a fan of plastic handled flatware. It reminds me too much of the cheap crap I owned in college when entertaining consisted of ordering a pizza and chipping in for a 6-pack.

I think this is Vietri by Bugatti. I believe the style is called UTOPIA. You could try contacting them to see if they have any remainders.

It looks a little like bakelite stuff i've seen for sale at mid-century shows. You can get entire sets available in a varitey of colors from vendors of the stuff. In California- I got soem seerving pieces from the Bakelite Lady, who does the show circuit. Fairly inexpensive (i thought)

Sorry, I should have posted one of the link that I found yesterday.

A randomly-named etailer called "Country Gourmet"
still sells Bugatti Utopia in different colors.

Scroll halfway down the page until you come to the picture and prices for Utopia.
