Pic Woody's Wooden Cutlery

06.21.picwoodys.jpg
Perfect cutlery for the outdoor diner. Pic Woody's wooden cutlery is, as they say, the disposable cutlery of the future. We spotted it at Fairway last weekend for $2.50 for a bag of something like 12 forks and 12 knives.

Pic Woody's cutlery is made in France of sustainable European beech and poplar, which is compostable and reduces the use of disposable plastics.

The utensils are smoothed and waxed - no splinters here! And we found their shape to be very pleasing, too.

Has anyone tried these -- do they have the rough popsicle-stick feeling?

The blog says "smoothed and waxed - no splinters here!"

There are also typically no splinters from popsicle sticks, but that wasn't Robyn's question.

I live in England and a local deli used to have this cutlery. It's actually quite good, although I wouldn't use it on a steak or something really heavy. They don't snap like poor, cheap plastic forks and knives often do (well, they do for me at least).

Oh, the spoons tend to be a little shallow though, since they try to mould the wood into the right shape. Took ages to drink soup.

MrGreen--

Not at all. Just trying to keep things on track and to the point, which I thought you were a big fan of, since you seem to take great pleasure in "setting straight" your fellow posters, the blog editors, and pretty much anyone else who contributes to or enjoys this site.

How do you get "nasty" from that, exactly?
