Alteration of the Ever-Fixed Mark, 2003, burnt paper, 66" x 41
Introducing Anne Gant, glass-blower and printer.
Anne Gant uses hot glass to make her prints. She first blows/sculpts glass into complex shapes and then presses these forms, while they are still hot from the furnace, into wet sheets of Arches rag paper.
Shelf Life (detail), 2003, burnt paper, 50" x 22"
This process she has invented creates these “prints” with a beautiful range of tones. And what about the glass pieces? They become cracked and destroyed when cooled so suddenly … the only record of them is their mark on the paper.
5' 11", 2003, burnt paper, 5'11" x 42"

In the artist's words,
“The soul of glass is its heat. These prints function as maps of that heat. They reveal a secret aspect of the glass, normally known only to the maker."
Small Hands, 2003, burnt paper, 36" x 21"

These are stunning. I tried to email her to find out about pricing, but it was bounced back. Has anyone had any luck finding out more?
