The Gallery: Chris Baker

Interior Still Life, oil on wood, 9 x 11, $375

Introducing Chris Baker: humble man, brilliant carpenter, and an artist who paints with sunshine.

Chris is one of my favorite kinds of artists… the kind you’ve got to seek out, track down at the studio and take the pictures yourself. Self-promotion? Not in his vocabulary. So I feel like I’ve found a treasure to share with you all.

The studio at Riverside Hall

A 15-year resident of Sedgwick, Maine (which isn’t long enough in Maine-time to be called a local-- he calls himself a “year-round summer person”) Baker lives in the old Riverside Hall, historically the shared home of the town’s Masonic Lodge and Ladies Public Improvement Society. The first floor is a magical and cavernous space that corrals the area’s beautiful light and serves as both painting studio and painting subject.

I can't get the link to work. Does anyone know how?

The link is to this AT post. I think the implication is that he doesn't have a website.
