Introducing Jim Sperber.

Earlier this year Jim was featured on the site for his interior decorative painting and finishes. He happens to also be a terrific painter of paintings – and has a show opening this week. I thought I’d take readers on a spin through some of his work from the past 4 years.

Sperber's earlier paintings really center their interest in pattern and motion and have a lovely breadth of mood and vibrancy.

His most recent series incorporates both wood and metal in addition to paint and the patterns and grids are giving way to more organic and maplike forms. Works from this series (including the one at the top) will be featured in his upcoming show.

Thanks for showing off Jim's great work -- I've always been a fan and have several of his paintings in my apartment. (Click my name to see my current favorite.)

Note: Jim also does great decorative painting, using some of his fine-art techniques. Check out his site for examples of geometric lines, which he calls the "Ultra Finish": http://sperberart.com/gallery/folder/custom_interiors

As I write this, my Sperber hangs proudly over my desk. It's a big sunny yellow series 2 ... the perfect modernist interpretation of my new home town, sunny Santa Barbara, CA. Thank you AT for showing his beautiful work!

We are proud owners of "Sperber Art." So much in fact, that his painting is the center piece of our living room. Thanks AT, for spreading the word.

Our Series 1 Sperber captivates visitors to our home with a depth of material and intense rigor that leaves the minds eye full of inquiry...
