Lucky Stripes, 3 panels, 48 x 166, 2008
I was at a terrific benefit on Monday for the Community Word Project that teaches poetry writing and performance in the nyc public schools (rah rah!) and encountered some visual poetry in their art-auction. Introducing Kylie Heidenheimer's atmospheric windows of color and space...take a look.
AT readers, what do you think? Wouldn't these give a blank wall something to say? Give your eye a pause? Insert some instant atmosphere...some breath into a space?

Tho non-representational work may not tickle everyone, I have always enjoyed it, especially work like this that conveys such relish in the materials used to make it. Give a shout if you live with this manner of art around you... where do you have it in your home?

These paintings are wonderful to spend time with -- props to Jean Vong who managed to capture their depth and texture in photographs so we could share them with you.

These are gorgeous! I wish that art-related posts would give some vague sense of pricing. Not that every piece needs a price tag, but a general guide to price ranges would be helpful.. For instance, I love these pieces, but have no way of knowing if they are even vaguely in my price range.

I love these paintings too. I have a Heidenheimer in my living room, it was under 2K a number of years ago, I don't know what they go for now. So much love of texture and play of light.....

I saw an exhibit of Heidenheimers at Columbia U last summer that took my breath away. I see her paintings as explorations of energy fields which speak to our relationship with inner and outer space. Very stimulating, fascinating and timeless. Beautiful images!
