Introducing Michelle Hinebrook who was kind enough to share this with us, her most recent painting, just completed over the weekend.

Hinebrook makes her work using both traditional painting technique and digital imaging technology, and at first glance, especially at photographs of this work, one could misconstrue that it was created on a computer screen and printed out. But look closer!

The beauty in her work is how present the painter's hand is, painstakingly representing imagery drawn from digital output sources and weaving and interpreting this into original enamel paintings.

The imagery in her paintings begins first with the artist's body and surroundings, which is then tranformed and interpreted through photography, plotting, scanning and mapping using a variety of technologies including architectural, photographic and medical imaging tools. The resulting images are combined and represented by hand in paint.

In the artist's words, "I use these systems to envision interior and exterior structures of the body, the curves and the contours, and to reveal patterns. These pattern networks are used to represent social relationships, map surfaces, visualize information, and define layers of space."

Sometimes the paintings themselves become the image circulated through these tools to create another iteration, a new painting.

And most recently she's been working on ceramic tiles too.

WOW! They are like nothing I've seen before. Though I am not a "fan" of so called modern art in general, these works DO cause me to think about them. I enjoy the humanity and illusion of texture - even on a computer screen - in them. I will share this site with others in my state.
Keep the fantasy alive.

Great job Michelle! Great example of the "dots and lines" concept of art.

You go girl.

Perhaps I will be able to buy one of your cool paintings for my home in Michigan; whenever that may be.

Hope all is well with you.
