Introducing Timothy Michael Martin.
Hmm. Someone seems to be channeling the spirit of the Fall Color submissions, had they come in as floor plans. Which would you like to inhabit?...

Martins work draws on his long interest in maps, diagrams and blueprints (spent his childhood amidst such things, gleefully dismantling toys) as well as more current experiences in construction and plumbing.

He reorganizes and reinvents the visual tools of the design trade to convey the complexity of human experience.

For instance, an everyday encounter or event can provide a kind of found composition for him to manipulate: i.e. an everyday bike ride gets mapped into a well-ordered schematic of social interaction.

He makes big paintings, and also these smaller compositions on paper.
