It was busy at the Union Square Greenmarket yesterday afternoon. With Rosh Hashanah meals being shopped for, and the absolutely gorgeous weather, the market was well used. By 1:30 p.m. many stands were running low, a few were even packing up. What was there was beautiful. This is such a stunning time of year - harvest. The fruits of autumn, especially, are striking.
Maroon D'anjou pears streaked with gold...
vibrantly pink Honey Crisp apples...
smoky purple Italian prune plums...
and tomatoes in every color imaginable.
