Waldorf Hysteria - CLOSED

As far as we are aware, this store is now closed. 8/18/08 - CB

6-15--waldorf.jpgNestled in the East Village, we passed Waldorf Hysteria and had to stop. The pic is snapped from our cell phone and all the goods on the street were interesting vintage finds. The conversation inside went something like this:

Hipster - "I want to get a price on a table outside."
Owner (barely moving) - "Which one?" (there are many outside)
Hipster - "The brown one."
Owner - "Brown one? Don't know that one." (barely moving)
Hipster - "It's right out there."
Owner - "Really, let me see." (now moving slowly)

Aside from the perfect East Village vibe, Waldorf Hysteria is a refreshing detour from the Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, DWR mafia. If you know more, please comment.

They have fun, inexpensive stuff. To get things home, it's quite easy to call Delancy Car or New Day car service and ask for a van....There's another store that has great vintage furniture on 9th between first and A closer to A. I don't recall the name. But I think his stuff is more cottage style and in better condition (and possibly more expensive) than Waldorf Hysteria. Also, WH takes furniture on consignment (or at least they used to)

That's a darned good photo from a cell phone camera. What brand/model of cell phone did you use?

You would expect the website link to take you to the website of the reviewed establishment, not a google map...though, that is one fine map. I can see the brown table!
