Cover Tiles by Studio JSPR

12-04-tiles3.jpgPlumbing pipes are generally covered up within our walls. These Cover Tiles, designed by the Dutch designers at Studio JSPR, cover surface-mounted plumbing while exposing the shapes of pipes beneath. The result is a sort of "ant farm" of pipes on your shower wall.

They even embed the shower head and thermostatic controls into specially designed tiles, like in the picture at right and below.

I'm sure this would be an expensive project as far as labor and cost of materials are concerned, but the outcome is certainly delightful! Available in black or white - but we prefer the white because it more clearly shows off the tiles' pipe-shaped contours. -regina

I wish I had those in my ancient apartment. I have so many pipes, and they collect really disgusting funk behind them.

Cool. First red flag, however, comes to mind re: the diameter of the pipes: Dutch and US sizes might not be identical. I don't know what a typical cold/hot water European pipe diam. in metric is; is itcompatible to our 2"d?

They look kind of like veins that you see on the surface of skin, like on the back on hands or tops of feet. It's really good.

I kind of really love this...

yep im liking this design; these tiles are a good way of making otherwise ugly bathroom plumbing look rather attractive and kind of an art form in their own right...
