The Lanka Tile at Nemo is a very basic, glazed ceremic 3x6 subway tile with a few coordinating borders and caps available. Prices are about $2-3 per square foot. Check out Lanka Tile at the warehouse side of Nemo Tile (the back door of sorts, on E. 20th Street). We've seen this used in project running the gamut, from high-end, high-budget residences to small do-it-yourself weekend projects.

Looks like the Sri Lankan tile manufacturer is doing well, too. Their net profits for the last quarter, reported this month, were up 70% from last year.
We used US Ceramic 3x6 bright white subways from home depot. It was 1.20/sqft about a month ago, then they raised the price to 1.50/sqft.
I've seen it at other tile stores for over 2.00/sqft...

Mondial in BK is also good for this kind of tile, may be a hair less expensive

speaking of 3x6 white subway tiles, i have 5 boxes left over from a bathroom project that are taking up valuable closet space. each box would cover about 11 square feet. they're yours for $50 if you can pick them up before march 1.
please send an e-mail to afrance2000@aol.com if you're interested.

US ceramic tile in bright white is in stock and cheap in Chinatown. Sino carpet & tile on Bowery. Coincidentally it is the lighting district.
