Top 10: Affordable Online Art Sources

I always find the best "cheap" artwork at housing works auctions...

Aqua Rabbit! Yeah! I'm a huge fan of her work, having run across it in the Flickr community. I'm so happy to see her getting exposure for her cheery, warm, happy pieces. When I see them, they make me smile. Which makes them wonderful to have in your home! :)

sorry--I don't know how that happened.

cut and paste-ing my comment from the earlier thread, which is about to get eaten.

if you're in NYC (and even if you're not), remember that 'gallery' doesn't necessarily have to mean swank Chelsea artworld hotness. there are A LOT of up and coming galleries representing new younger artists in Brooklyn and Queens, especially Williamsburg and Long Island City.

I am semi-involved with one of them (Flux Factory, in LIC), and we just did a 'small cheap art' show a couple months ago, as well as an auction with pieces at a variety of price points back in February. I don't even make enough money for a West Elm couch, and I was able to buy work at both of those events. I'm not sure what their plans are for more affordable art events (Flux Factory is a nonprofit and much more in the business of doing more innovative work that is a bit too complicated to hang on your wall), but I'm sure it's something that they will do in the future, and that other similar galleries do from time to time. they also are known to sell work from their shows when appropriate, at prices that are not unreasonable.

Please remember that this is a thread of affordable art. I liked browsing the Palette Contemporary Art site posted by Chris above, but most of the paintings were $2-5K, which for me, puts it out of the realm of affordable.

I was recently introduced to the work of up and coming artist Matt Mignanelli. He is a nationaly published artist/illustrator and paints acrylic on panel. The work is truly something different and stands out from the pack. I purchased a new piece for my loft and it livened the space like I wouldn't believe and affordable!! Take a look on his site: http://www.mattmignanelli.com

The paintings are mixed in with the illustration work.

There's an article in this month's Domino about artists who produce a work of art a day, they're called postcard paintings because of their size. Almost all of them seem to go for $100. I don't have the mag with me but they list a number of websites.

StuntKid aka, Jason Levesque, is a fantastic artist who sells large prints(18x20) of his illustrations for less than $50. His work is amazing and actually he's got a full-color book out.

His work is racy, but gorgeous.

Sorry, HTML tags aren't working. His website is www.stuntkid.com.

I'd like to put forward a new ethical art gallery that hosts art pieces by established british artists, rewards them fairly (unlike traditional galleries or most online galleries that charge 40-60% commission) and supports medecins sans frontieres:
