Sally -

the tivoli is an alarm clock radio. i have one, and I will never buy another clock radio. sound is amazing, though the snooze is short and not adjustable if that is important.

It looks great, works well, and is all the stereo I need for my studio apt.

You can turn any radio into an alarm clock by using a timer. I bought a set at Radio Shack a while back for some plant lights, but you could easily use it for a radio. There is a main control from which you can set all of your timers, and then the lights/appliances to be controlled are plugged into these satellite plugs that receive the on/off signal from the master control. Pretty neat. I think you have to get a certain kind to use with appliances. But I have one of these on my Tivoli so that it turns on in the morning. Speaking of which, the Tivoli Audio alarm clock radio is quite nice, no?

I wish I could explain what my deal with clocks is... I don't even wear a watch, but oh how I love clocks. The Tivoli is sexy! Hubba hubba!

I've got a bedroom with no windows. Can anyone recommend an alarm clock with a light that gradually gets brighter as it gets closer to the alarm going off?

Don't know why, but I've got a thing for George Nelson's Petal Clock (click my name).

But the Max Bill Wall Clock's also very handsome.

I spent months looking for a not-ugly alarm clock 6 years ago when my last one broke -- and picked the Braun AB4a, purchased at Flight 001. It is amazing. Never breaks, dirt cheap, small enough that you can take it on vacation, looks decent (although I would love to see more good designers take a crack at alarm clocks), and most importantly, has an alarm loud enough to wake you but not so obnoxious you want to fling it across the room.

patrick (too): are you anti-clocks? or just feeling feisty? just wondering. (either is OK by me.)

carson--
That odd comment was in repsonse to something that has since disappeared, I swear.

But I'm with Rob... I LOVES me some clocks!!!! AND watches.

Yet ironically, I continue to arrive "fashionably late."

Some favorites, aside form the M&Co clock (any of theirs, actually) include:

CB2's Max Bill impersonator:

Unica Home's Times Square clock:

(of which I have one going up on Ebay later this week)

iHome. Not the best looking alarm clock but not bad either. The best feature is that you can snooze and wake up to the music on your ipod.

Yes, it is expensive (overpriced I dare say), and I don't like most of his stuff, but the Philippe Starck smart clock for Oregon Scientific is quite attractive and functional. I've had one for a few months now, and love the feature that projects the time on the ceiling - I turn off the backlight and have a totally dark room but can glance up at the ceiling whenever I want to know the time. The outside temp sensor is also a nice touch.

The alarm tones, which start soft and get louder, are a very nice way to wake up (relatively speaking of course, as I would rather just keep sleeping!)

P (too):
Thanks for sharing your clock faves. I love M&Co too. I was given an M&Co wristwatch by an architect boyfriend years ago. Sadly, I didn't know enough about design to really appreciate it at the time, and now I'm not sure what happened to it...
