Serafina Pattern from Pottery Barn Emulates Josef Frank

Last week, Regina posted the new bold and graphic upholstery options available from Pottery Barn. Readers, paintitbright and pinchas, pointed out that the Serafina pattern closely resembled the style of Swedish textile designer Josef Frank. We couldn't agree more...

Look at the similarity to Josef Frank's Aralia pattern for Svenskt Tenn:

A popular designer to emulate, Josef Frank has inspired designs at IKEA, too.

The Serafina Shower Curtain, a printed linen/cotton blend, is $70 from Pottery Barn.

"Emulates" isn't the word that springs to mind.

Sorry...it just doesn't hold a candle to the original.

Compared to some of the originals I saw of Josef Frank, I like the one Pottery Barn has - there's more white space around the objects and it just feels less *busy*.

Since Josef is clearly out of my justifiable budget...I may hit Pottery Barn's version one day. That said, shame on PB for knocking it off...and shame on me for buying it (one day in the future...).

The armless chair in the PB catalog also looks strikingly like the Ikea Stockholm chair...
