When the holiday season hits, everyone in town suddenly wants to get something framed, which makes it the worst time of the year to try. Right now it's a little better.
Pearl Paint has an excellent framing shop behind their main store on Canal, and we recommend them. They have done very good work for us at very affordable prices. The downside is that they are not as organized as other stores might be, so they take longer to get things back (4-8 weeks depending on season), and can be slow to get to you if they are busy. Our advice is to frame in the offseason (summer) and go there during weekdays, not weekends.

Great store...located in the center of craziness, chinatown..but great store...
The frame shop is TERRIBLE. The people who work there can't seem to get over themselves and give ENDLESS crappy attitude. On top of that, their turn around time is pathetic. I was told my art would take SIX weeks to frame. After 6 weeks I called and it wasn't even done.
Apparently they had my frame but just hadn;t gotten around to doing anything with it.
I know NYers want instant gratification but 6 weeks is ridiculous.
AVOID - there are places with better prices and service.
I got a good frame done with no hassle, though 6 weeks did feel like a long time. I was perfectly happy with it.....
