AQHayon Bath Collection

Wow. We have to admit that Jaime Hayon's new interpretation for ArtQuitect of traditional bathroom vanities is such pure FAB, that it proves why interior style is moving in this direction.

We love these. Lacquer is everywhere. The mirror is laser cut, while everything else is ceramic and steel. The sinks come in five colors (yellow, gold, platinum, black or white) and the vanity console in either black or white. Available from Hastings Tile or Il Bagno Collection. I didn't think I would see anything even remotely linked to FAB that I liked but this I do. Well as long as I don't include the gold that is.

Unfortunately, plumbing would spoil the look to a fairly large extent but maybe this could be used as a decorative piece. It would look pretty cool in our entrance hall.

So is the mirror attached? I don't like the yellow (although it does seem to be the color of the moment: witness Michele Williams' dress and a spread in the new Shop Etc) but the platinum with the black is fab.

It's gorgeous, but I wonder how the FAB look will age. I'd be more incline to spec it for furniture than fixtures. There's already talk of espresso stained wood and wenge looking dated! I was looking for a laser cut mirror a couple years ago, but now that they are more prevalent, they've lost some of their appeal... but maybe I'm just a trend jumper.

That is just UNBELIEVABLE. LOVE it!

Too cartoony for me, I'm afraid. And I agree with the person who asked about the plumbing - won't the purely utilitarian pipes clash a bit with all that lacquer?

Itt reminds me of all the stylized cheap "Dr. Seuss"-like furniture that was so popular in the late '90s. Not a good thing.

Can someone explain what "FAB" is?

Ruth, I'll take a shot at it....

FAB achieves a modern look by glamourizing vintage pieces or designs. This can be done through the use of materials such as bold fabric and lacquer to achieve a fresh style which is evocative of more traditional pieces. The effect achieved is elegant but carefree.

I love that mirror. Does anyone know of any cheaper versions of that style of mirror?
