Best Products: Speakman Anystream Showerhead

03-05-speakman.jpg

The gold standard of showerheads. Speakman's Anystream showerhead isn't kooky, witty, or cutting-edge. But it's functional, simple, and high-quality. And it's beautiful enough to be the showerhead used in this AT reader's awesome bathroom: Liz's Woody Spa...

The Anystream provides strong pressure. It's available with anywhere from 4 to 8 settings. And here's what clinches the deal for us: Many showerheads we've seen these days are mostly plastic. Speakman's is all brass construction. The only plastic you'll find is on the front plate of the head, where the water comes out.

The no-nonsense Speakman Anystream is very reasonably priced, at $40 for the most basic model to $180. An Anystream handheld shower has recently been introduced to the collection. (Re-edited from 2007-03-05 post RY).

have had mine installed (I have forgotten the model) for about 5 years now, wouldn't change it for the world of rainfalls...unless it's Dunn's River in Jamaica or the Victoria in South Africa ;0

I think this is what I have and I like it, but I didn't think it was famous! Mine must be near the $40 end.

if i move, renovate, rebuild, or redesign a space, step#1 is ALWAYS pulling off the showerhead and replacing it with the $40 SPeakman from Home Depot. Best showerhead ever. THey make a GREAT housewarming gift, too.

This is one of those rare products that is worth every dollar spent on it. W Hotels use Speakman showerheads in their amazing showers.

I tried rainfall showers- which worked poorly because of low pressure to my 6th floor loft. Also tried more expensive showerheads. None worked as well as the Speakman, which provides an invigorating shower.

I can't say enough about how wonderful this product is,

I was pouting, when I read this, having forgotten to order a Speakman for our new bath - but then we opened the box from Restoration Hardware and LO! Our showerhead is an Anystream!

I had the $40 version. Maybe our showerhead is too high on the wall, but the only setting that had enough pressure (I have stupidly thick hair) had such a wide spray that it was always spraying water into my ears. Just what I needed, an ear infection. And the pressure really wasn't that great.

Swapped it out with a $10 showerhead from Walmart and have been happy as a lark ever since.

I think I still have mine if anyone is looking for a deal...

Well, how does it compare to the 1.7 gpm Earth Massage Showerhead? All the models with higher gpm's are pretty wasteful. Has anyone tried their low gmp models?

Is it better than the Moen Revolution massaging shower head? I'm looking for a new shower head. Has anybody tried both?

Does anyone know if the white finish is primarily constructed of plastic? They've got the white 8 stream on sale for $9.99, down from $78:

I have the Speakman Anystream 8 jet (the one on sale for $9.99) and it is made out of plastic. However, Speakman uses special engineered plastics on its plastic models. I also have the new Rain showerhead from Speakman and it actually has good pressure, especially if you buy it with the ultimate flow control, which increases the pressure if you need more.
