NYT: The Bright White Home of Howard Schatz

12-17-white-water-1.jpg Coming Up for Air is a great reminder that "home" has a different meaning for everyone. The Connecticut home of underwater photographer Howard Schatz and his business partner/wife Beverly Ornstein is anchored by the outdoor pool cloaked in clear vinyl and the glaringly white interior. According to Beverly "Our goal was to build a house in which you would have to wear sunglasses."...

The sparse interior highlights the colorful photos of submerged figures.

The pool is where the former ophthalmologist has been taking his photographs since it was installed in 2002, one year after purchasing the property.

There is also a slideshow showing off Mr. Schatz's unique photographs.

I wouldn't want to live in an art gallery myself, but hey, different strokes and all.

His photographs are so beautiful and the colors in the photo above are so vibrant that I fell in love with his home when I saw it. Also, because I have a toddler and could never keep a white interior clean I think I am even more drawn to his clean, simple space.
