inhabitliving.com has wall flats made of 100% molded bamboo paper pulp. plastic is highly toxic to the environment, ends up in landfill where it drifts to water sources, where it poisons water and can live 'forever.'

I would get some tin ceiling tiles (the ones with cool oldschool patterns), attach them to a board and then paint the whole thing white.

Magnificent, there's wallpaper that mimics this look for less. It was used by Victorians who couldn't afford pricey plaster. You hang it, then paint it. Tracy, if you're interested, google "anaglypta."

Here's where I got the tiles for my ceiling, and they're made of polystyrene, and they're very paintable, and they're not all that expensive. I did a 12' x 20' ceiling for about $400.
