Wall Drawings from Domestic
Paris

khdomestic3.jpgWe have blogged about Domestic's vinyl wall stickers more times than the sticker-averse among you may appreciate. But these elaborate wall stickers designed by graphic artists, designers and artists such as Finnish-born Klaus Haapaniemi, a UK-based illustrator, take the realm of the tired wall sticker to another level.

I'm really starting to resent your Paris blogger. She reminds me that I don't live in Paris. Grrr.

I really like these, they're magical and pretty to look at. Part of me really also likes the bizarre motifs and part of me thinks they'd be prettier without. Kind of an 80/20 feeling.

Great idea, yet I wouldn't want to live with those particular designs. Odious busy, cutesy, overbearing pretentious stuff, makes my skin crawl. Sorry about these remarks, my reaction is so gut level. Does anyone out there feel as repulsed?

I don't like them (these particular designs) either. They'll fall out of style in no time and look ridiculous, and we'll have to wait about 40 years for them to be seen as "vintage". Also, the "Bambi on LSD" sticker doesn't go with that Prouvé chair at all, conceptually it even goes against everything that Prouvé and designers like him tried to do.

Making photos by juxtaposing great designs of the 20th century with these decorations is a bit ambitious, its seems like a way to bring cultural and design value to what is simply a trend.

I am forwarding this over to my best friend right now- she (and her twin 2 year old daughters) would be ALL over these! They have a great home full of whimsy and bright colors (pinks and turquoise and bright yellows), and these would be right up their alley. Something for everyone, you know ;-)

Intellectually it's fun and new. Visually, not for me.

totally irrelevant, i know, but the footstool in the first picture strongly reminds me of a candle - an enormously oversized votive candle - and that resemblance is really not helping my mind deal with the trippy strangeness of the drawings themselves. (i realize this is just between me and my own mind, but still.) for that matter, the chairs in the next picture aren't helping much either.

Just curious. How is it that this is now a 6:20 p.m. post when I know I read it hours earlier in the day with different posts preceding and following it?

I think these designs would rock in a boutique but not necessarily in a home setting. Fun, though!

I love these, although looking at the thumbnails of all their designs is a little overwhelming. Maybe you'd get a better reaction from the crowd at Oh Dee Doh - these seem well-suited to a kid's bedroom or playroom.

I think someone just vomited on my wall!

Much prefer DecoSticks - simple wall sticker designs!
