Welcome to Amy, 1 of 6 finalists trying out for our two NY Blogger spots! Comment away....

Airstream Books is not a typical bookshop. For one thing, there’s no actual shop. They’ve set up on the sidewalk in Williamsburg, for the last three years under a large white tent, and are open on weekends and some weekdays, when the weather is cooperative. Along with a choice selection of books on topics ranging from architecture, design and fashion to vintage porn, they also stock a well-edited collection of ever-rotating vintage furniture chosen as a compliment to the books...

During the week, a selection of furniture pieces are usually offered via Craigslist, and can be viewed on the website. But the best way to see the choice vintage pieces to ask for an appointment to the furniture warehouse. If you’re lucky, Matt will be around and he’ll open the large red door, right behind the tent, take you into his thousand-foot warehouse and point out the details on his favorite pieces. While I’ve restrained myself from buying furniture, I have snatched up vintage copies of Terence Conran’s The Kitchen Book and The House Book as well as The World of Robots. Although there’s no shopping in the rain, they’re in the process of expanding their website, so that soon, whatever the weather, you can pick up a little vintage. Oh, and while you’re in the neighborhood, Yola’s, next door, makes a mean taco.

I love this post -- good vintage furniture can be so hard to find.

Great post, I look forward to tracking this book "tent" down. Love the furniture that's shown (not that I have the room for anymore, but you never know!).

I've passed this book tent in Williamsburg many times, and even stopped to browse a few times, but I had NO IDEA there was a whole warehouse of vintage furniture behind it! How exciting!
