ATM: Advanced Table Module

2004_9_24_ATM.jpg

Work, work, work. We love the Bouroullec's Joyn desk system, but as Joost says, "It's huge!" Luckily, Jasper Morrison does a fairly good imitation of it in a single desk size.

The ATM or Advanced Table Module is meant for offices, but it offers everything a work-at-home New Yorker could possbily want, with cable storage and electrical sockets nested up underneath the worktop.

Better yet, the cool white Ipod-like design sports numerous add ons, which allow you to mount monitors, lights and even storage shelves to the basic design. Available from Vitra (212.929.3626) starting at $1,457 (71 in) and $1,551 (87 in). (via Reluct) MGR

$38 at Ikea in Emeryville, CA a month ago. Maybe Ikea can't stock them anymore because Vitra bought all the remainders, retrofitted them with a few holes and spring clips, and jacked the price up 3000%.
