Slaving away in style! While this quick read/listen on
National Public Radio focuses on the increase of comfortable "home-like" office space, we're not certain we see the trend often enough in New York City. With rents high and space at a premium, we consider ourselves lucky to not have to share a cubicle. And we cannot express how excited we were when we got to move into an actual office. Check out the images of hot office design (of course most are ad agencies!) after the jump...

I love the rectagular hanging lamps! where are they from? anyone?
Obviously I'm in the wrong industry. This is amazing. This is how it should be.
I really like the huge communal desk. I'm not sure I'd get any work done in an atmosphere like that though - too much stuff to distract me.
That big concrete desk is superkiller cool!
Just the sheer scale of it.
The lamp fabric is all current Marimekko fabrics...so im guessing they were custom pieces created for this company....seems like they would be pretty easy to make yourself though...
i might even give one a try ;)
I hate to think of the orphaned paper clips and dust bunnies that would migrate to the center of that huge table. An open workspace like that seems fabulous, until you have to work across from someone who likes to pick his nose and sing along with his iPod.
And it looks like there is an incredible amount of work getting done in the last photo. Kumbaya, Playstation, and pool!
Yeah, that's it. Dwell on the negatives, why don't ya, MEP.
Paperclips & dust? Hello?! Ever heard of maids?
Nose-picking colleague singing to iPod? Guess if you can't work in that environment, you can't work period.
And, you know what, a lot of work actually comes from play for creative minds.
Does anyone know the name or where I can buy the red fabric with white concentric semicircles on it, which they've made into a pendant light above that great concrete desk? I am looking for some fabric to cover one wall of an office as a tack board and that looks perfect.
A little bit of ad-inside info. Mother is a really cool agency. Their concept with the big table is to make things more home-like. They even call it a "kitchen table." It makes people comfortable to gather around.
I work in the ad industry and I'm very jealous of both the work coming out of these agencies and the way they furnish their spaces.
Their creativity and environment go hand in hand.
