If you are looking for the nicest refinished, vintage metal furniture as well as new metal based on the same designs, this is the place.

2005_8_23_sonrisa8.jpgVintage metal desks, chairs and storage cabinets don't just look like new, they look better with a slight patina of age showing through the shiny finish. And if you don't want to spend quite so much money, Sonrisa's new furniture collection does justice to the genre. New desks starting at @ $1,100 and vintage starting at @ $1,500.

"Committed to promoting vernacular American industrial and institutional metal furniture," Sonrisa has grown over the past few years and introduced an online store that sells lighting, toys, office accessories and other metal ephemera. MGR

Anybody in Brooklyn know what's become of General Nitemare (Red Hook vintage mayhem) since the owner passed away?

I've been looking at TWENTYGAUGE as well as SONRISA for a bookcase and credenza. It's big bucks purchase for me.

Is there anything that differentiates these two companies and their products from each other?

I love that stuff. And for anyone who has the bucks for it, I would absolutely recommend them.

In fact my dining room chairs are that kind, made by the Good Form Chair Company originally. But I got all 6 of mine on eBay for $127. Of course, to have them reupholstered at Paterson Silks on West 72nd Street, and have them create a missing back for one of them, and to have them grind off the oxidition from the aluminum (mine are aluminum) came to $1,100, which I thought wasn't too bad, and the dull gold vinyl I put on them looks much, much better in person than it sounds.

Hi,
My name is Angelo Castellano, owner of General Nitemare Antiques. Along with Barry and my other two partners, Rocco Castellano, and Ed Orr we began to transform General Nitemare to show off the treasures that were hidden. As you know, Barry was not with us long enough to enjoy this transformation, since he passed away June 2005. We, the remaining partners are committed to keeping Barry' s spirit and General Nitemare alive and in RED HOOK!!!! In any event please stop in when you are in the neighborhood and you can see some great and fun antiques and dont be surprised if you see some neighborhood regulars having coffee and you are welcome to join us.
Thanks again
Angelo Castellano
