2004_11_2_mag cap.jpgDot.com dinosaur. Before there was DWR, before there was EdgeModern, there was The Magazine. Founded in 1990 in the Bay Area to supply the region with the hottest modern furniture, rumor has it that The Magazine blew through millions of dollars setting up their business and earned the distinction - over a decade later - of being one of many modern shops and certainly the one with the ugliest website.

2004_11_2_mag gem.jpgNevertheless, they have forged relationships with some of the biggest design houses: Cappellini, Herman Miller, Alessi, etc... and have a remarkably broad collection of classic Mid Century design and current creations. They are worth a stop on any modern ($$$) shopping tour.

2004_11_2_mag press.jpgOur favorites include the Cappellini side chairs (@ $718), the Gemiini tea set ($150), their retro fridges ($4000), the Press magazine rack ($580), and their "Classics Collection," which includes items such as the Marcel Breuer Serving Cart ($3294). (Thanks, Drew!) MGR
