Old + New. We fell in love with the 1949 modernist home (and the sleek addition) profiled in the New York Times Magazine in Twice as Nice. Originally designed by Ernest Born, the smallish San Franciscan house was recently added-to by Aidlin Darling Design and the results evident in the photographs are fantastic...

Besides successfully creating a whole-house uniformity in the addition, our two favorite features of the design are the original living room's wood-slat wall system for hanging art (above, on the right)...

and the addition's surfboard storage cleverly integrated into the family room (above, on the left)...

The enormous garden and neoprene-covered armchair are also nice! Be sure to check slideshow.
