NYT: Etsy and the Craft Movement

The craft movement has never been bigger and the New York Times Magazine published an in-depth look at the recent growth of the industry: Handmade 2.0. Written by Rob Walker (we've blogged his ideas before), the piece tracks the growth of the entrepreneurial spirit in crafters and the history of Etsy, the online global marketplace for all things handmade...

The author explores a lot of ideas about marketing, small-business and making DIY profitable. Additionally he looks at the "appeal of the handmade to those who might not have the inclination to do the making" which we think is a huge story in itself. We really enjoyed this article and think you should check it out! If you're craving even more information about teh craft movement after reading the story, check out Rob Walker's blog Murketing for a ton of extra links to related information.
