While New York City is being inundated with new residential buildings and development, the majority of the structures are rather bland and conformist. By standardizing living spaces, developers save money on materials and design while they maximize profit. Remaking the Condo With Light and Air looks at a new condominium development in Los Angeles designed by architect Lorcan O’Herlihy. The Habitat 825 building in West Hollywood has 19-units and even their own celebrity: Trainer Bob from "The Biggest Loser"...

Above is "Trainer Bob" Harper in his new condominium.
Instead of merely maximizing square footage, the architect and developer designed each unit to celebrate space and light and put an emphasis on design and uniqueness. In addition to large windows and atrium spaces, nearly every unit has integrated outdoor space. This is the kind of multi-unit construction we like to see!

These are beautiful. Does anyone know what kind of hardwood floors they are using?
Trainer Bob has excellent taste!
Sigh . . . the white sofa, zebra rug and arc lamp are just soooo divine. Sleek and beautifully contemporary. I like the way the accessories jump off from the artwork. Very well done!
something like brazilian koa has a lot of variation in color, stained a darker color, bird's eye maple would probably look similar to the floor above.
does anyone know what couch that is - I really like the straight lines. On second thought I probably can't afford it, Let's rephrase - do you know of a cheaper version\Thanks
A friend of mine has similar floors from this company:
http://www.ecotimber.com
She said they were walnut and look closer to floor in the Times than on their web site.
The sofa is the frequently-discussed B&B Italia Charles sectional. In that configuration, with what looks to be white leather (swanky!!) it's at least $20K.
There are cheaper options that have a similar style - check the Nils Bendtsen version at DWR or even CB2 makes something similar -- neither in white leather, though.
icenet333, the orchard walnut flooring on that site is freakin fabulous
where can i find that rug?
How about that floor lamp? Where can I find something similar?
sharonlong, I wish I could go for a white sofa, but my black dog and my always-with-shoes-on children turned me away from it... I went for a simple, brown/white mélange fabric sectional from a little artisan in the surroundings. fair quality and removable covers at a fair price, AND white additional cushions!!
at times you give out TOO much only for the name, so why not try a go at http://www.chairs.ws/sofa-couch.htm. I found a load of white (sigh) modern sofas either leather or fabric. you can ask the producers directly, so prices are more affordable without charging margins each pass.
