It's happening...again! 40 years ago the White House had solar panels installed on its roof thanks to Jimmy Carter. (They were later removed by Ronald Reagan.) On Tuesday, no doubt in response to friendly pressure, Secretary of Energy Steven Chu announced that the White House will go solar sometime in the spring of 2011.
The plans are to install enough panels to provide hot water for the First Family and "some electricity." It may not be comprehensive climate legislation, but it's something.
