Objectified: Trailer for the 2009 Design Documentary

Why do consumers pay higher prices for designer goods? How do we effectively critique utilitarian objects like chairs and cell phones? What makes IKEA so popular? These are the kinds of questions Gary Hustwit explores in his upcoming documentary, Objectified. Click below to view the trailer...

This is Hustwit's 2nd documentary, following the success of his 2007 film Helvetica, which aired in abbreviated form on PBS last night. Objectified features interviews with designers that AT readers have loved and hated, including Hella Jongerius, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Karim Rashid, and Naoto Fukasawa, among others. There's no publicized date yet for the premier, but the film will start to hit theaters in Spring 2009. For more information, check out Gary Hustwit's Objectified blog.
