This is the biggest clock that we've seen that can actually fit in your living room. It will make you rethink time on a larger scale. The designer has some theories on how this clock can actually make a big room or an empty room look smaller or fuller. That's something that can be quite useful, because home theater rooms and offices often have an empty feel to them.
The giant Oclock was designed by Anthony Duffeleer of Belgium for Van Esch, a Dutch design firm. It's simply what it is: a giant clock. Duffeleer is an architect and he believes that design is an unbelievably pretentious word. He is the driving force, with Freia Rombouts, behind the Antwerp firm Frap. He says that a designer is really a process supervisor, and it's a quest for the right production method that actually appeals to Duffeleer.
For the Oclock, this has led to an exciting and organic shape. The dial is around 4 feet in diameter and the clock is nonetheless light in weight, despite its generous dimensions. We found his following comment also interesting. Apparently this object can almost feel obtrusive when its in a room. Even if a room is otherwise empty, with this clock inside, it will feel full. That is something really interesting about giant sized designs. They make large spaces seem a lot smaller.
Needless to say that we really like this clock. It's gigantically big and overwhelms your eyes. It will attract all eyes and will be a subject of discussion. Any larger office or living room could do with a clock like this. Naturally, this clock has a retro-projector and lights up so that it can be visible at all times. That's another thing that we really enjoy about this object. [via TrendsNow]
