I received an e-mail in my inbox today from a good friend of mine, who is a big supporter of local architecture, reminding me that the month of October is Architecture Month in Los Angeles. Los Angeles architecture has long been overlooked when compared with historical cities such as Boston, Philadelphia, and New York City. Los Angeles does have a great selection of architecture and doesn't get the credit it deserves.
In 2007 the city of Los Angeles officially declared the month of October Architecture Month to bring the professional community together and bring awareness to its local architecture. While the Midwest may have more Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, we have Frank Gehry, Eric Owen Moss, and Greene & Greene. To celebrate Architecture Month, The American Institute of Architects (AIA), Los Angeles chapter is holding events throughout the month. Check out AIA Los Angeles for a list of events.
What is your favorite local architectural building or landmark?

Not from LA, but of the places I've visited so far, I do like the Gehry designed Disney Hall most.
For my money, I'll take G&G over FLW any day. Gorgeous AND functional. I look forward to checking out some of these events. Thanks for the post.
Greene & Greene homes are Southern California architectural treasures!

Greene & Greene homes are beautiful. On the opposte end of the spectrum I also like John Lautner designed homes. Chemosphere, anyone? The Googie architecture in Los Angeles is pretty cool too. Pasadena City Hall is a must see along with the Bradbury building.
I was at the Gamble House last weekend (pictured above). A really cool thing people might not know is that 2 students from USC's school of architecture get selected to live in the house every year. Talk about taking your studies home with you!
The Gamble House will always be Doc Brown's house to me.
Thanks to Frank Gehry for making us Canadians proud!

what you might not realize is that if you're good friends with one of the lucky students who's living there, you can get an even better tour.
hard to choose but I think about The Stahl house more than any other...
