These dramatic octopus chandeliers by artist Adam Wallacavage evoke an earlier era of Victorian gothic adventure and further prove that cephalopods are having their moment.
Wallacavage constructs the light fixtures using traditional ornamental plaster techniques and hand paints each one. They look especially cool hung along with his custom designed sea-kelp wallpaper (his limited edition wallcoverings are available from Curio) as shown above for an installation at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery. I like the last one. A little kitschy, a hint of Vegas, but classy. The others I imagine would be in fine decor in Ursula's underwater lair.
All of this chandelier talk has me in despair. Our weird apartment complex put the electric box to the chandelier a little farther from the wall than we liked - we can't center our dining table under it without eating up too much space. No octopus chandelier for me, unfortunately.
I would have nightmares of it jumping down after midnight, then slowly crawling to my bed to strangle me and choke me by placing one of those round thingies against my face.
Lovem!
If that pink one (second pic) was for sale and a decent price, I would totally buy it!
Hate VERY much! Sorry, but Ewwww.
Love them... super fun and interesting.
