We spotted this clever transformation on Ikea Hacker: Suphi and Ebrar, a couple from Istanbul, had a few Ikea pieces in their media room that out wore their welcome. Rather than turn to Craigslist or—gasp!—the trash heap to get rid of their Lack TV bench and Lack coffee table, they decided to take 'em apart and fill a need in the other most techie room in a home: the office. Click under the jump to see how a TV stand and coffee table became two office desks and—oh the irony—another coffee table that better fit their space.

Will this project give you the inspiration to see past your outdated furniture's intended purpose and re-imagine the do-it-yourself pieces into another room in your home?

More pictures with a lot more DIY-style detail are available at Ikea Hacker, just in case you had the same TV bench and need for a desk as Suphi and Ebrar did.
