Speaking of small spaces, if you've got the urge to be outdoors and have a near-term need for an office, perhaps this low-budget garden shed might inspire some epic DIY projects this coming Summer season.
Simplicity and functionality rules when designing any backyard office, but especially when you're going for that warm-urban look, nothing beats the raw and gritty aesthetic of exposed oak, fresh linens, and (despite going against all interior office rules) visible wires.
Located in the London borough of Hackney, this garden office by Office Sian Architects features full-height doors that retract to expose the lovely view of the garden. Built-in shelving creates a 'library' feel and an open skylight allows plenty of natural sunlight to enter, reducing that feeling of claustrophobia found in some outdoor office sheds.
If there's one thing we would add, we might create some way to project movies onto an outdoor screen from inside the shed (for those warm Summer movie nights). This would not only allow individuals to seat themselves in or nearby the shed, but because outdoor power would already be available for use, it'd be a simple act of plug-and-play.
