In some ways, workspaces can be the most flexible part of a home. Technology has freed us from the bulky computer station of 10 years ago, allowing a home office to fit inside a closet, a corner, or even the space under the stairs.
While it might not be the ideal Feng Shui setup, there are some benefits to placing a desk under the stairs. The grid of a staircase is well-suited to storage, whether built-in, wall-mounted, or open.
Depending on its design, a staircase can be a focal point, and its architectural gesture can help to define or separate the workspace from the rest of the home. In cases where space is especially tight (like Photo #5) a staircase can become a home office, offering a platform for work and a few cubbies for storage.
