We’re looking for a few good…bloggers. Are you passionate about the joys and challenges of modern homelife with children? Are you an excellent writer and skillful photographer? Would you like a place to share your ideas and inspirations with a large design-centric community? If this is you, jump below for the details. (We’d be especially excited to hear from dads and folks in the Midwest and West, but the search is open to everyone.)
Ohdeedoh is looking for a few new, fresh voices to join our team as bloggers. These are part-time, paid, freelance positions.
You need:
• a good eye for design and a good eye for photos
• strong blog-style writing skills (concise, snappy, positive and with a firm handle on spelling and grammar)
• a good, fast computer
• a reliable high-speed internet connection
• a digital camera and excellent photography skills
• Photoshop or Photoshop Elements
• knowledge of how to use all these things
The link to the application form above will ask for the following information:
• Your name and contact information
• Where you live
• How long you have been reading Ohdeedoh
• What you do in the offline world
• Special areas of interest (room tours, how-to’s, age group, books, crafts, etc.)
The form will also ask for 2 specific sample posts with text and pictures - choose one from the first category below; the second is a Round Up. Please submit posts written specifically for this and not for another blog. Look to Ohdeedoh for the general style and format of posts for submission. Keep your post to 200 words max. (with a few exceptions noted on the submission form).

White Enamel Four-P...
Oooooh, pick me, pick me! Midwest Mamma that I am... (shameless plug inserted.)
I'm guessing my comments today about Nine By Design rule me out. :)
I wish my photography skills were better :-(
Do you have to be American/live in the US to apply?
Ditto last comment. Do you?
Eleonora and JustineJustine - anyone can apply. Thanks!
Carrie
just wondering....
how many posts a week are expected for the job?
simplertimes -
It's flexible. We don't have a set amount that is required/expected at this point - it will eventually depend on the results of the search.
Thanks for asking!
wow! i'd love to join if only i had the time :) good luck with the search!
What about Europeans?:)
Can the Mini Tour be of a public space, or does it need to be from a home environment? Thanks!
felhasznal - Everyone is welcome to apply, regardless of location.
sherhall - The mini tour should be from a home.
Thanks for the questions and interest!
what a great opportunity. would the decision be made by readers or by the editorial staff?
howaboutcookie - the decision will be made by the editorial staff.
Thanks,
Carrie
the instructions say to push the submit button and wait for a page that says 'thanks'. i did this, but was sent to a blank white page. do you know if that means my application did not go through?
disregard the above comment...i figured out the problem and resubmitted the application. thanks!
Hi,
I'd love to sign up but don't have photoshop or photoshop elements...am i still able to enter? I have all the other requirements.
Thanks,
Victoria
tori412 - The position does require access to photo editing software. Photoshop Elements 8 costs around $70. Feel free to email me to discuss, thanks! carrie(at)apartmenttherapy(dot)com
Can you apply if you also write another (personal) blog?
It says that photos should be 540 pixels wide...what about height? Super picky...but just wanted to check! Thanks!
A family friend runs an in-home child care center. I love her organization and the bright, bold colors are fantastic!
Would this 'count' as a room tour, given that parents could certainly draw on her ideas for their own children and their belongings?
How much do you pay per post for this position?
So excited and proud to throw my hat into the ring. Thanks for this opportunity!
@greta - Yes, you can have our own blog or write for another blog.
sesblue19 - ideally, the height would be between 540 px and 700 px.
ChristinaWeedon - sure, any room that's intended primarily for a child or children's use is fine.
book - feel free to email me to learn more about our per post rates. They vary depending on the type of post.
