Name: John
Location: Portland, Oregon
Children: Olivia, 5, and Scarlet, 3
Inspiration: We wanted a burst of color in our apartment. The kids' stuff is already so colorful and random that we wanted to overpower it all with this vivid green to give their room more balance. Underneath the bed each girl has their favorite wall color and their own unique space.

Tip for Using Color: If you go with a deep color on the walls be sure to get enough paint for 2 coats and save a trip back to the store.
Colors Used: Local paint from Rodda in Portland, OR for Sour Apple.

This looks like such a fun room!
Those loft beds are rad!
I love the idea of creating their own individual space under their beds. What a great idea!
Are the loft beds custom? They look very high.
i like the step leading up to the beds! fun shapes for storage and very functional =) where did they come from?
What a great idea - the colors look fantastic and the beds are amazing! Did you make them yourselves? I like how each girl has her own space and you made the most of the space in the room. Very creative.

What a great room! I love the room-dividing bookcase and the stairstep cubes.
However, after being forced to have loft beds for 3 years in college, I personally am not a fan. But I suppose it would be novel for a child. ;)
Honestly, this is not my very favorite room aesthetically (like it, don't love it), but unlike some of the others, it looks like a room any little kid would be totally thrilled to have and really feel comfortable to live and play in, and you managed to do that while still making it attractive and coherent. So I picked "color me impressed!", because you clearly have your priorities straight (it's all about the kids! and you have some very lucky kids!), AND you did it with style. I also love the creative way you maximized the space, and how you let each girl make some part of the room express her own tastes. Wonderful work!
Tell me more about those lofts! Where did they come from? I need the details- they're fantastic!
yikes!
those beds are really cool, but they seem terribly unsafe. unless your kids sleep with their head on the pillow all night without moving (i know mine don't) then any time they shimmy half way down the bed they risk falling out...
do love the room though.
My kids don't fall out of their loft bed; honestly, do you fall out of bed? When they moved out of the crib, we left their crib mattress on the floor for one night, then they learned where the edges of the bed where, and now they don't fall out.
I absolutely love this room! Letting the kids choose their favorite colours is a great idea and i love love love those beds. Pleeeeaaase tell us where they're from!

one more request for info on the bed makers.
What a fun room!
All the furniture is really amazing actually, that rolling storage unit...
Another vote, for loving the personalized color. Great idea for a shared room.
Thanks for the compliments on our girls' room. My husband made the loft beds, and I was a bit apprehensive at first, but the girls do just fine up there. The storage cubes came from http://www.viatoybox.com.
seriously cool room
