Child: Alexandra, 2 1/2; Madeleine, 13 weeks
Inspiration: Although I love pastels, we wanted Alexandra to have a bright and cheerful room ready for an active toddler. The dominant color choices were taken from two Babar posters that can be seen in the photos. I tried to match the turquoise accent walls to one of the main blue shades in the posters. I love the mix of turquoise and red. To enhance that, I am still planning to put some red ladybug vinyl wall stickers on the turquoise wall behind the bed.
Tip for Using Color: There's a lot of bright, fun, primary color in the accessories of this room, so besides the accent walls, we left the walls white so as not to overwhelm our daughter. We didn't want her to be charged up by color ALL the time--it's hard enough to get a toddler to sleep! A red wall, I think would have been too much here.
Colors Used: Blue walls are Bluebell by Sherwin Williams (found out about their Harmony no VOC paint on the AT site). Quilt is from Pine Cone Hill. Blue dresser and storage furniture are from Ikea. Red chair is from Pottery Barn Kids (a roadside find!)
