Name: Kara
Location: Chapel Hill, NC
Child: Caden, 21 months
Inspiration: When my husband and I decided to convert a small, unused room in our basement into a playroom for our son, I knew that I need to paint the walls a bright, vibrant color to make up for the fact the room has no windows. I wanted Caden's playroom to be a bright, cheerful place, not dark and unwelcoming! My inspiration was Binth's alphabet poster. As soon as I saw the poster, I knew that the bright oranges and soft greens would be a perfect color combination for the room: modern, playful and fun! Caden loves his playroom, and I'm so glad we were able to create a fun space for him.

Tip for Using Color: Don't be afraid of a bold, bright color; just use it in smaller amounts. I used orange on the bottom third of the wall, and painted the rest of the wall a soft green. That gave me the perfect pop of color, without being overwhelming.

Colors Used: Wall colors: Benjamin Moore Calypso Orange and Vale Mist. Trim and ceilings are Simply White.

wow! love the lights that match the stripe on the wall. Very creative!
The artwork above the rocking horse is fabulous.
Its hard to tell the walls are green so I'm sure it looks even better in real life.
Ok, I have GOT to know where those striped pendant light fixtures came from! They are awesome!
From a UNC alum- what? Not blue? Really, great job on the room. Are the bird mirrors something you made, or available from a store?

Great room! I love the tree on the wall! Did you paint that yourself, or is it a stick-on mural? If it's a stick-on, please let me know where it's from.
I too love the wall art, can you please tell us more about the tree and bird.
would you mind sharing how you did the tree and bird? Did you do it yourself or hire someone? Im near Chapel Hill, so would love to know if there is someone you could refer. Thanks!!!
I love the wall art too! Is that a wall decal? If so, where did you find it! Thanks!
I LOVE this playroom!! I know I'm late on the comment but can anyone post an update about the tree artwork (stick-on decal or custom mural?). WELL DONE....I am using this as a starting point for my little one's play room. Thanks for sharing your creative ideas with us! :)
I know it's a late comment but can anyone tell me what the tree is or where i can find it? i've been searching the internet and cannot find anything on it. Wall decal or hand-painted? Thanks for your help in advance. Great job on the room!!!
